Story Synopsis

On December 24, 1997, NYPD rookie Aya Brea attends an opera at Carnegie Hall. During the performance, the lead actress Melissa Pearce spontaneously combusts the audience — everyone burns except Aya. Aya learns that a mutated strain of sentient mitochondria, dormant in Melissa's kidney transplant, has awakened and seized control. Melissa transforms into Mitochondria Eve, a being that can manipulate cells to create fire and mutate organisms into Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures (NMCs).

Aya discovers she has her own mitochondrial powers — Parasite Energy — because she received a corneal transplant from her deceased sister Maya, whose mitochondria evolved symbiotically rather than parasitically. Over six days, Aya hunts Eve through NYC landmarks: Carnegie Hall, Central Park, the NYPD precinct, Chinatown, St. Francis Hospital, the sewers, the Museum of Natural History, and finally a naval vessel where she confronts the Ultimate Being — the offspring Eve created using engineered sperm from the sinister Dr. Hans Klamp.

100% Completion Roadmap

  1. Complete the Normal Game (Days 1-6): Play through the entire story, collecting all missable items, Mod Permits, and Trading Cards available in each day. Defeat the Ultimate Being on Day 6.
  2. Start EX Game (New Game+): After clearing the game once, the EX Game unlocks. This is a New Game+ that carries over your final weapon, armor, stored items, and Bonus Points (BP). Aya restarts at Level 1 but gains BP each day.
  3. Clear the Chrysler Building (77 floors): Available only in EX Game, this endurance dungeon contains the best weapons, armor, all Trading Cards, and 7 boss floors leading to the true final boss.
  4. Defeat Truebred Eve: The true final boss on Floor 77 of the Chrysler Building, taking the form of Aya's deceased sister Maya. Defeating her unlocks the true ending.

Key Mechanics

  • ATB Combat: Battles occur in real-time without a separate battle screen. An Active Time Bar (ATB) fills to determine when Aya can act. Aya is bound within an invisible perimeter until all enemies are defeated or she escapes.
  • Parasite Energy (PE): Aya's mitochondrial powers, unlocked as she levels up. 15 abilities across Heal, Defense, and Attack types. PE slowly recharges during battle. The ultimate ability Liberate (Lv33) transforms Aya into a powerful mitochondrial creature.
  • Weapon Tuning: Use Tools and Super Tools to transfer parameters and effects between weapons. Mod Permits (from Baker) and Trading Cards (from Wayne) add customization slots to weapons.
  • Bonus Points (BP): Earned on level up and distributed to ATB speed, item capacity, or weapon/armor attributes. In EX Game, Aya receives set BP at the start of each day (800-3000 depending on day).
  • Junk Collection: Collect Junk from enemies and give 300 to Wayne for special weapons (DE50AE7 pistol, MAG rifle, P90 machine gun, M10B shotgun, HK40 grenade launcher, LAW80 rocket launcher).

Day 1: Resonance
Location: Carnegie Hall | Date: December 24, 1997

Aya Brea, an NYPD rookie attending an opera at Carnegie Hall, witnesses the lead actress Melissa Pearce spontaneously combust the audience. Aya is immune and confronts Melissa on stage, discovering her Parasite Energy powers. Melissa mutates into Eve and descends into the sewers.

1
Enter Carnegie Hall and watch the opera cutscene. The audience combusts — only Aya and Melissa survive.
2
Confront Melissa on stage. This is the first boss fight where Aya learns she can use Parasite Energy. Melissa attacks with targeted energy beams.
3
After Melissa levitates away, head downstairs. Aya witnesses a rat mutate into an NMC (Neo-Mitochondrial Creature).
4
Find the diary backstage revealing Melissa overdosed on immunosuppressants after her kidney transplant, fearing she'd lose her lead role.
5
Confront Melissa backstage (playing the piano). She mutates into Mitochondria Eve and descends into the sewers.
6
Navigate the sewers, fighting mutant frogs and an alligator boss. Find your way back outside.
7
Aya's partner Daniel Dollis escorts her away. She learns she is the sole survivor.

Day 2: Fusion
Locations: NYPD, Central Park | Date: December 25, 1997 (Christmas)

The police attempt to suppress Eve's existence. At a press conference, Captain Baker covers up the Carnegie Hall incident, but Aya reveals the truth. Aya and Daniel visit Dr. Klamp at the museum, then pursue Eve to Central Park where she turns the audience at Delacorte Theater into an orange slime mass.

BOSS Eve (Liberty Island)
The final confrontation with Eve beside the wrecked Statue of Liberty. Eve has multiple phases. Attack from the helicopter first, then fight her personally on the ground. She uses powerful energy attacks — use Barrier (if unlocked at Lv13) and Haste (Lv20) to survive. Use Energy Shot or Liberate for burst damage. Eve finally succumbs and dies.
Day 6: Liberation
Location: Naval Vessel | Date: December 29, 1997

Aya rests on a naval vessel. Maeda and Daniel are relieved she is safe. However, the Ultimate Being is born and attacks the surrounding ships. Aya must defeat it and escape before the ship explodes.

1
Rest on the naval vessel. Receive Maeda's Gun and DNA Bullets — the only weapons that can damage the Ultimate Being.
2
The Ultimate Being is born and attacks. Battle it across multiple forms as it evolves during the fight.
3
Set the vessel's boiler pressure dangerously high to destroy the ship with the Ultimate Being onboard.
4
Escape the ship before it explodes. Aya jumps off and the cruiser explodes, killing the Ultimate Being.

The being's mitochondria cause it to evolve at an alarming rate. Each form is stronger than the last. Use Liberate (if at Lv33) for massive burst damage. After weakening it, set the boiler pressure high and escape before the ship explodes. The cruiser explodes, killing the Ultimate Being.
TIP: After the credits roll, the EX Game (New Game+) unlocks, granting access to the Chrysler Building and the true final boss.

Weapons Guide

Parasite Eve features 60+ weapons across 7 categories. Each weapon has stats for Attack, Range, Bullets, Slots, Special Effects, and Rate of Fire. Weapons can be customized using Tools, Super Tools, and Trading Cards to transfer parameters between them. The best weapons are obtained by giving Wayne 300 Junk in the EX Game.

TIP: Use Super Tools (not regular Tools) to transfer parameters without destroying the source weapon. Super Tool Kits are obtained from Wayne by collecting Trading Cards in the Chrysler Building.

Special Junk Weapons (300 Junk Rewards)

Collect 300 Junk items from defeated enemies and give them to Wayne. You can either ask for a specific weapon type, or leave the decision to Wayne (random result). When you leave it to Wayne, you may get a different weapon than expected, plus Super Junk and Duper Junk byproducts.

NOTE: You can only get ONE weapon from Wayne per playthrough for each 300 Junk. To get all 6 special weapons, you need multiple EX Game playthroughs.
  • DE50AE7 (Pistol, ATK 123+2) — ask for pistol
  • MAG (Rifle, ATK 151+1) — ask for rifle
  • P90 (Machine Gun, ATK 122) — ask for machine gun
  • M10B (Shotgun, ATK 120+1) — ask for shotgun
  • HK40 (Grenade Launcher, ATK 115+1) — ask for grenade launcher
  • LAW80 (Rocket Launcher, ATK 200+20) — ask for rocket launcher

If you leave the decision to Wayne, you might randomly receive USP-TU (pistol, ATK 115+1), SP1C (pistol, ATK 118+2), AK-47 (rifle, ATK 155), or PPsh41 (machine gun, ATK 78+2) instead.

Armor Guide

Parasite Energy Abilities

Parasite Energy (PE) is Aya's mitochondrial power system. There are 15 abilities across three types: Heal (recovery), Defense (buffs/debuffs), and Attack (offensive). PE slowly recharges during battle. Abilities unlock as Aya levels up, with the ultimate ability Liberate available at Level 33.

TIP: Liberate (Lv 33) is Aya's best attack. It transforms her into a blue-green mitochondrial creature with wing-like appendages, dealing massive combo damage. Its only drawback is emptying her PE meter and leaving her dizzy after reverting — be careful in boss battles.

Enemies & Bosses

Parasite Eve features a variety of Neo-Mitochondrial Creatures (NMCs) — animals and organisms mutated by Eve's mitochondria. This page covers common NMC types and detailed boss strategies for all story and Chrysler Building bosses.

Common NMC Types

NMCs are encountered via 'hot spots' — the screen flashes, a heartbeat sounds, and enemies materialize. Common NMC types include:

  • Rats (including Golden Rats in Chrysler Building)
  • Frogs (mutated, found in sewers)
  • Alligators (sewers, boss variant in Chrysler Building)
  • Bats (flying enemies in dark areas)
  • Spiders (including Spiderwoman boss)
  • Scorpions (desert/exhibit areas)
  • Dogs / Dogmen (mutated police dogs, including Sheeva/Kerberos boss)
  • Monkeys / Flymen (mutated primates)
  • Parrots (mutated birds)
  • Snakes (various areas)
  • Cats (mutated felines)
  • Bears (large dangerous NMCs)
  • Chameleons (can turn invisible)
  • Crows (flying enemies)
  • Moles (underground enemies)
  • Pterodactyls (museum dinosaur exhibits)
  • Armadillos (armored enemies)
  • Dinosaurs: Troodon, T-Rex, Triceratops (museum exhibits, reanimated)
  • Squirrels (Chrysler Building only)
  • Cockroaches (Chrysler Building, including boss variant)
  • Bees (Chrysler Building, including Queen Bee boss)
  • Crabs (Chrysler Building, including Giant Crab boss)
  • Centipedes (Chrysler Building boss)
  • Treasurebox (mimic-type enemy)

Story Boss Strategies

Day 1: Resonance

BOSS Melissa (Stage Fight)
The first boss encounter at Carnegie Hall. Melissa attacks with targeted energy beams. Move constantly to dodge — strafe left and right between her attacks. Use Aya's default M84F pistol and attack when the ATB is full. This is where Aya learns she can use Parasite Energy — the Heal 1 ability (60 PE, restores 30 HP) unlocks here. Melissa will eventually levitate away after taking enough damage.
BOSS Eve (Sewers)
Eve is more aggressive than Melissa, using powerful energy attacks in the Carnegie Hall sewers. Keep moving and attack with your best available pistol (M1911A1 if found) between her barrages. Use Heal 1 to recover HP when needed. Eve will flee after sufficient damage.
BOSS Alligator
A giant mutated alligator encountered in the Carnegie Hall sewers. It has powerful melee attacks and a lunging bite. Keep your distance and circle around it. Use the M1911A1 (higher rate of fire) if available. The Alligator drops the Kv Vest 1 armor (DE 19+1).

Day 2: Fusion

BOSS Giant Worms
Large worm-like NMCs encountered in Central Park. They emerge from the ground and attack with body slams. Use rifles (M16A1 from Torres) or machine guns for rapid fire. Keep moving to avoid being surrounded by multiple worms.
BOSS Eve (Horse Ride, Central Park)
Eve rides an immolated horse at the Delacorte Theater, attacking with energy projectiles while in motion. Time your attacks between her barrages. This is a scripted encounter — you don't need to fully defeat Eve. The fight ends when Aya is knocked unconscious.

Day 3: Selection

BOSS Sheeva / Kerberos (Mutated Police Dog)
A mutated police dog with a protective barrier that makes it highly resistant to normal physical attacks. Use offense boosters (Offense +1/+2/+3) and offensive items to break through its defenses. Parasite Energy attacks (Energy Shot if at Lv15) are effective. Torres Owens is killed during this encounter. Sheeva drops the M9-2 pistol (ATK 38+1).

Day 4: Conception

BOSS Spiderwoman (Hospital Rooftop)
A giant spider-like NMC on the hospital rooftop. She attacks with web projectiles that can immobilize Aya, and has a dangerous lunging attack when you get too close. Dodge web attacks by strafing constantly. Use the G3A3 rifle (found on the 13th floor) for sustained damage. The Spiderwoman drops the G23 pistol (ATK 47+1).

Day 5: Evolution

BOSS Slime Monster
The orange slime mass from Central Park's audience has become a giant monster. It surrounds Eve in an impermeable protective shield. You first fight it from a military helicopter — use your best weapons for aerial bombardment. It has sweeping slam attacks and projectile slime. The Slime Monster carries Eve away with its giant hand.
BOSS Eve (Liberty Island) - Multiple Phases
The final confrontation with Eve beside the wrecked Statue of Liberty. Eve has multiple phases, each more dangerous than the last. Attack from the helicopter first, then fight her personally on the ground. She uses powerful energy attacks — use Barrier (Lv13) to absorb damage with PE, and Haste (Lv20) to speed up your ATB. Use Energy Shot (Lv15) or Liberate (Lv33) for burst damage. Eve finally succumbs and dies at Liberty Island.

Day 6: Liberation

BOSS Ultimate Being (4 Evolving Forms)
The Ultimate Being is born from Eve and attacks the naval vessel. Its mitochondria cause it to evolve at an alarming rate through 4 forms, fusing with objects on the vessel. You MUST use Maeda's Gun with DNA Bullets — normal weapons cannot damage it. Each form is stronger than the last. Use Liberate (if at Lv33) for massive burst damage. After weakening it, set the vessel's boiler pressure dangerously high to destroy the ship, then escape before the cruiser explodes. The explosion kills the Ultimate Being.

Chrysler Building Bosses

The Chrysler Building (EX Game only) has 7 boss floors, culminating in the true final boss on Floor 77. Bosses appear every 10 floors.

BOSS Floor 10: Spiderwoman
Same as the Day 4 hospital rooftop boss, but stronger in the EX Game. Use rifles and machine guns. Dodge web attacks by strafing. The EX Game version has more HP.
BOSS Floor 20: Alligator x2
Two alligators at once, similar to the Day 1 sewer boss. Focus on one at a time. Keep your distance and use ranged weapons. They have powerful lunging attacks — don't let them corner you.
BOSS Floor 30: Centipede
A giant centipede with multiple segments. It drops the M79-3 grenade launcher (adds Frost effect). Use grenade launchers or shotguns for area damage. Target its weak points.
BOSS Floor 40: Triceratops
A reanimated Triceratops from the museum exhibits. It has powerful charging attacks and high defense. Use your strongest weapons — rifles and rocket launchers work well. Dodge its charge by moving perpendicular to its path.
BOSS Floor 50: Cockroach x2
Two giant cockroaches. They are fast and can swarm Aya. Use shotguns for burst damage against multiple targets. Keep moving to avoid being surrounded.
BOSS Floor 60: Crab
A giant crab with a hard shell. It drops the AT4 rocket launcher (ATK 128). Target its weaker points (underside, joints). Use high-damage weapons like rifles and rocket launchers to break through its shell.
BOSS Floor 70: Bee x3
Three bees (including a Queen Bee). They are fast flyers that attack in swarms. Use machine guns (MP5PDW or better) for rapid fire against flying targets. Take them out one at a time to reduce incoming damage.
BOSS Floor 77: Truebred Eve (True Final Boss)
The true final boss of Parasite Eve, taking the form of Aya's deceased sister Maya. Dr. Klamp cultivated the cells of the original Eve as a backup — in case Melissa and the Ultimate Being failed, the purebred would remain. Truebred Eve has taken Aya's Liberate form and can use attacks similar to Aya's and more. This is the hardest fight in the game. Use your best weapons (DE50AE7, MAG, P90 from Junk rewards) and full PE. Use Barrier, Haste, and Liberate strategically. After defeating Truebred Eve, Aya's mitochondria rebel, but Maya's personality fights off the Eve persona and protects Aya. This unlocks the true ending.

EX Game (New Game+)

When the Normal Game is cleared once, a new mode called the EX Game appears — essentially a New Game+ (Plus). The EX Game is different from the normal game in several key ways:

  • Item carryover: The player has access to every item stored in the police station. Plot items (keys, charms from Maeda) are removed.
  • Weapon/armor carryover: The game begins with the final weapon and armor the player chose before ending the first game.
  • Bonus Points (BP): BP given at the end of the Normal Game are now available to use. Aya also receives set BP at the start of each day: 800 on Day 2, 1200 on Day 3, 2000 on Days 4 and 5, and 3000 on Day 6. Just playing through to the end of the Museum will get you at least 10,000 BP.
  • Enemy HP: Enemies have slightly more HP than in the Normal Game.
  • Level reset: Aya starts at Level 1 again, but gains more BP per level up than in the Normal Game.
  • Chrysler Building: The biggest difference — the Chrysler Building dungeon unlocks, containing the best weapons, armor, all Trading Cards, and the true final boss.

Chrysler Building (77 Floors)

The Chrysler Building is a progressive endurance dungeon available only in the EX Game. It contains the best items, armor, weapons, and Trading Cards in the game, plus the true final boss on Floor 77.

Structure

  • 77 floors total, randomized except for floors 1, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70-77.
  • Every floor (except the non-randomized ones) is completely randomized — each floor is like a maze.
  • Save points only every 10 floors, and only after defeating the boss on that floor.
  • The items, weapons, power-ups, and enemies are of a higher class than the main game.
  • New monsters include giant Squirrels, giant Cockroaches, and Queen Bees.
  • Most enemies and bosses are similar to those from the main game (Golden Rat, Alligator, Triceratops, Centipede).

True Ending (Floor 77)

The boss on Floor 77 is Truebred Eve, the true final boss of the game. She takes the form of Aya's deceased sister Maya. Dr. Klamp cultivated the cells of the original Eve as a backup — in case Melissa and the Ultimate Being failed, the purebred would remain.

Truebred Eve has taken Aya's Liberate form and can use attacks similar to Aya's and more. After defeating her, the mitochondria inside Aya begin to rebel, as Aya's mitochondria have reached a higher evolutionary stage than Maya's. However, Maya's personality becomes dominant and fights off the Eve persona, protecting Aya by preventing the original Eve from taking over. Aya leaves the building alone, having gained a connection with her dead sister.

Chrysler Building Tips

  • Recommended Level: Level 35+ before attempting the Chrysler Building. Aim for higher levels (40+) for the upper floors and Floor 77 boss.
  • Bring plenty of medicine: Stock up on Medicine 3 and 4, Full Recover, and Revive items. You can only save every 10 floors.
  • Use Save Points wisely: Save points appear only after boss fights on floors 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70. Don't waste them.
  • Chrysler Keys: Collect Chrysler Keys 1-7 to use the elevator for quick access to each 10th floor, bypassing the randomized maze floors.
  • Collect Trading Cards: Give all Trading Cards to Wayne to obtain Tool Kits and Super Tool Kits for unlimited weapon customization.
  • Customize your best weapon: Use Super Tools and Super Tool Kits to transfer the best parameters (Offense +4, Range +4, Bullet Cap +4) to a single weapon.
  • Distribute BP wisely: Invest BP in ATB speed, item capacity, and weapon/armor attributes. A faster ATB means more attacks per battle.
  • Watch for randomized floors: Floors 2-9, 11-19, 21-29, etc. are completely randomized. Explore thoroughly — the best items are often hidden in these maze floors.
